Where does one dine Italian and experience that “old school” vibe in Los Angeles? If you ask or look around, you just might find it hidden in Downtown Montebello off Whittier Blvd. Salvatore Italian Restaurant is the oldest family-owned and operated restaurant in the city dating back to the mid 70’s.
It started with our immigrant parents, Salvatore and Angela, opening a pizzeria and delicatessen in the industrial southside of Montebello. In the beginning, success came through hard work, persistence, and word-of-mouth. If there was a secret to our success, it was and still is good, fresh ingredients and that southern Italian hospitality. As time passed, a bigger place was needed eventually expanding to its current location. Brothers, Joseph and Anthony, grew up learning the craft and officially taking over the family business in the early 2000s. We really stuck to the original concept from our parents except for including services such as curbside pickup and online delivery. Nevertheless, some traditions will consistently remain the same, and we pride ourselves by keeping it that way — the neon lights and crooner feel, classic leathery booths, generous-sized pasta and a good wine list.
We are a family-friendly restaurant offering southern Italian cuisine for lunch and dinner, catering, full bar, live weekend music, banquet room facilities, and takeout. Come hungry and leave happy! We look forward to seeing you here, or your meal delivered directly to your door!
